About The Position

We're seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused GIS Specialist to help configure and maintain the map services that power the KorTerra platform. This role includes both customer-facing GIS configuration and hands-on administration of our backend map infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring our customers can visualize their facility maps accurately, whether by integrating with their existing map servers or hosting their map data on our internal map infrastructure. You'll work closely with customers to process map files, configure map layers, troubleshoot GIS issues, and ensure high-quality spatial data experiences across our applications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on GIS experience who enjoys solving problems, working with customers, and supporting enterprise SaaS products.

Requirements

  • Ability to comply with our two in-office days per week policy
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using GIS software management solutions like ESRI and QGIS
  • Strong understanding of common GIS data formats (shapefiles, feature services, WMS, etc.)
  • Comfortability with handling back end responsibilities, including troubleshooting map services issues, managing configurations, and supporting reliability of a GIS platform
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-GIS users
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-accuracy work
  • Strong verbal, writing, and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers during onboarding and ongoing support to gather map requirements, understand their GIS environments, and guide them through data preparation.
  • Administer and maintain KorTerra's internal GIS/map hosting infrastructure, including managing services, monitoring performance, and supporting system reliability.
  • Support GIS system administration tasks such as troubleshooting server issues, managing environments, coordinating upgrades, and maintaining backend documentation.
  • Configure and maintain customer map layers in the KorTerra platform, including connecting to customer-hosted map services (e.g., ArcGIS Server, WMS/WMTS endpoints).
  • Process, validate, and import customer map files (e.g., shapefiles, geodatabases, feature classes) into KorTerra's internal map hosting environment.
  • Ensure map layers load efficiently, perform reliably, and meet customer expectations.
  • Troubleshoot mapping issues related to coordinate systems, file formats, map service configuration, and data quality.
  • Collaborate with Implementation, Customer Experience, and Product teams to ensure successful map deployment.
  • Maintain internal documentation related to GIS configurations, standards, and best practices.
  • Assist in developing and refining processes to scale GIS support across our growing customer base.
  • Partner with Product to help shape future GIS capabilities within the KorTerra platform.
