About The Position

The GIS Specialist supports effective use and maintenance of GIS, including maintenance of the electric and fiber connectivity model within GIS for use by OMS, map viewer, and engineering software. Collecting and maintaining accurate asset and inventory data in GIS. Ensuring the accuracy and usefulness of the platform data.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent with experience in GIS, utility infrastructure, or a degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.
Demonstrated digital competency in common office software and the ability to learn and master others.
Must have the ability to accurately create and maintain records, files and reports which will be used by SCI personnel.
Must possess strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify and correct mapping errors.
Must be capable of communicating actively with management, employees, members, personnel from other organizations, and the public.
Must be capable of collecting field data under varying terrain conditions.
Must be willing and able to assist during storms and large outages, as needed.
Must be regular in work attendance.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ESRI mapping products
Utility distribution experience
Knowledge of SCI service area, roads and terrain

Responsibilities
