About The Position

This position, GIS Specialist- SR GIS Specialist, involves maintaining and updating system facility records, maps, sketches, and working designs using GIS and/or Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. The role includes updating existing maps and computerized drawings and databases to reflect changes to land bases and company-owned pipeline facilities. The specialist will also prepare maps, graphics, charts, and other visual aids, and maintain a library of maps and related databases. Detailed records and files must be established, organized, and maintained using various computer programs. The role may also involve assisting with training, direction, quality control, project oversight, and the development of GIS applications, processes, and procedures, as well as supporting Technical Services and Operations on various projects. Requirements

• Associates degree in GIS, Computer Drafting or related field, and two years of related experience, or equivalent.
• Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with or without experience or knowledge of the technical area.
• Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric and geometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods.
• Requires knowledge of various software applications including computer drafting in order to utilize advanced operations to create complex documents, reports, graphics, daily updates and maintenance of system facility maps and special mapping projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and updates system facility records, maps, sketches and working designs in a GIS and/or Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
• Updates existing maps and computerized drawings and databases to reflect additions, removals and other changes to land bases and company owned pipeline facilities.
• Prepares maps, graphics, charts, and other visual aids used to facilitate communications.
• Maintains library of maps and related databases including computerized maps obtained from various sources.
• Establishes, organizes and maintains detailed records and files using various computer programs.
• May assist with training, direction, and quality control of others engaged in similar activities. May oversee project activities.
• May assist with the development of GIS applications, processes, and procedures.
• Assists Technical Services and Operations in various projects as required.
