GIS Engineering Technician Or Senior GIS Engineering Technician
About The Position
The GIS Engineering Technician, under the general supervision of a Supervisory Engineer, bridges the gap between engineering records, field conditions and spatial data. This role maintains and analyzes the City’s GIS database and may create engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The GIS Engineering Technician also oversees records database maintenance. The Senior GIS Engineering Technician, under the general supervision of a Supervisory Engineer, bridges the gap between engineering records, field conditions and spatial data. This role builds, maintains, and analyzes the City’s GIS database and may create engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The Senior Engineering Technician also oversees records database maintenance.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in drafting, civil engineering, construction management or closely related field
- Minimum (1) one to (3) three years of experience in civil engineering field related to streets, storm sewers, water lines, sewer lines, traffic, construction management, or surveying (GIS Engineering Technician).
- Minimum (5) five years of experience in civil engineering field related to streets, storm sewers, water lines, sewer lines, traffic, construction management, or surveying (Senior GIS Engineering Technician).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and analyzes the City’s GIS database.
- May create engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Oversees records database maintenance.
- Builds, maintains, and analyzes the City’s GIS database (Senior role).
- Gives guidance and assistance to less experienced technicians (Senior role).
