GIS Architect
About The Position
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has a unique opportunity for a GIS Architect to lead the agency’s inaugural enterprise geospatial strategy. In this role, the GIS Architect will join CMAP’s growing Technology, Data & Applications team under the Deputy of Data and guide the development of CMAP’s enterprise GIS architecture, governance model, standards, platform roadmap, and authoritative regional datasets. The GIS Architect will lead governance and architecture discussions, communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, and build consensus across internal and external stakeholders on standards, platform priorities, and shared spatial definitions. The GIS Architect will manage modernization initiatives, platform upgrades, and lifecycle processes for enterprise, program, analytical, and public-facing GIS capabilities.
Requirements
- At least six years of professional experience
- A bachelor’s degree in geography, urban planning, computer science, information systems or related field
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree preferred
- GISP certification preferred
- Reside in the Chicagoland area or willing to relocate
Responsibilities
