About The Position

McLean School, a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach (Grades 9-12) for the Fall 2026 season, which runs from August through the end of October. McLean School has, for over 70 years, helped bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college-preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. The Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach is responsible for overseeing the team, serving as a positive role model, and supporting the School's Mission and Core Values. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive volleyball

• Experience with providing differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels
• Effective written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Be a positive role model
• Plan, direct, and administer policies for all team practices and matches
• Communicate team expectations at the start of the season
• Design training sessions that are dynamic, engaging, and provide a challenge
• Create an environment of respect that is rooted in hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and supporting teammates
• Communicate with athletes and parents
• Ensure proper safety measures are observed when conducting team activities
• Attend seasonal coaches' meetings
• Give appropriate attention, care, and follow-up to student-athletes who are injured or ill, including filling out injury report forms
