Girls Basketball Varsity Assistant Coach
About The Position
The Girls Basketball Varsity Assistant Coach will assist in organizing and supervising the total sports program. This role requires substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball, including new theories and procedures. The assistant coach will serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes, instructing them in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. Additionally, the coach will foster character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in accomplishment. The position involves upgrading knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultations, and ensuring adherence to all athletic policies and regulations.
Requirements
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
- Ability to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes.
- Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
- Knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations.
- Understanding of the proper administrative line of command.
Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
- Demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
- Implement all athletic policies approved by the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
- Implement and interpret system, state, and league regulations.
- Refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
- Attend public/staff/departmental meetings.
- Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
- Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings.
- Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth and clinic attendance.
- Delegate specific duties and supervise implementation.
- Analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate assistants at the season's end.
- Maintain discipline and adjust grievances.
- Work to increase morale and cooperation.
- Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director/principal.
