Requirements

• Successful basketball coaching experience at the high school or college level
• Ability to work with a system-wide basketball program
• Must possess the knowledge and ability to teach basketball technique and strategy to enhance player skill development
• Ability to enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
• Be familiar with and implement MHSAA rules and policies of the Wayland Union Board of Education
• Basic first aid, CPR, and concussion training is required

Responsibilities

• Instruct team for competition, by teaching technique and promoting team building
• Represent the Wayland Union District in a positive and professional manner when dealing with opponents, officials, players, parents and spectators
• Schedule practices and events
• Monitor students’ academic progress
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff and students
