About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Support Services, the Advanced Learner/Gifted and Talented Coordinator is responsible for evaluating and supporting our advanced learners with ALPs. This includes a continuum of services for gifted-identified students in the K-12 setting. The Advanced Learner/Gifted and Talented Coordinator will work closely with, and provide support and resources to school leaders, ensuring our advanced learners continue to be academically challenged in our programs. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining ALPs and all required reporting.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an educational institution approved by the Colorado Department of Education
  • Valid “Gifted and Talented Endorsement” verifying completion of a Colorado State Board of Education-approved program for Gifted and Talented Education or willingness to work toward obtaining the endorsement upon being hired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal relations skills
  • Ability to be a part of and work with a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate, communicate and consult with school leaders and appropriate network administration to ensure advanced learners are academically challenged and show evidence of continued growth
  • Establish guidelines and procedures for gifted and talented services for the purpose of developing and maintaining the program in the JI Network in accordance with state and federal compliance regulations
  • Collect, analyze and evaluate student data for the purpose of monitoring student progress, program evaluation, and continuous improvement of gifted learners. Provide feedback on strengths and areas needing improvement
  • Plan, develop, maintain and review all ALPs for advanced students including parent meetings, evaluations and progress monitoring, maintaining ALP documentation in Infinite Campus
  • Serve as a resource contact for network classroom teachers for the purpose of providing materials, methods, modeling and ideas to ensure appropriate educational experiences for identified students in classrooms and assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental resources and materials as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, district or state activities and projects pertaining to the education of gifted students when requested by the Director of Student Support Services
  • Work with state reporting staff to ensure accurate reporting and tracking of gifted and talented students
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and research in Gifted teaching, attend workshops or conferences, and engage in ongoing professional development
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with teaching staff, administrative team, instructional support staff, students and parents for the purpose of promoting and encouraging involvement of all stakeholders in supporting the network program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Student Support Services
