About The Position

Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school where students learn core academic content through language immersion. Language offerings vary by campus: our North - Thornton campus offers Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian, while our Aurora and Douglas County campuses offer Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and French. GVA is truly a "global village." Our immersion teachers come from all over the world, each bringing their unique culture and language into the classroom. United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through an internationally benchmarked curriculum spanning each language village. Under the direction of the School Principal, the Gifted and Talented (GT) Coordinator serves as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) responsible for leading and implementing the school's Gifted and Talented Program for students in grades K–8. The GT Coordinator provides a continuum of services for identified gifted and high-potential learners through differentiated instruction, enrichment opportunities, assessment, and collaborative support for classroom teachers. The GT Coordinator partners closely with school leadership, teachers, families, and support staff to ensure that gifted learners are appropriately challenged academically while also supported in their social-emotional growth. This role serves as both an instructional leader and a resource for best practices in gifted education, curriculum differentiation, talent development, and advanced learning.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license preferred.
Gifted and Talented endorsement/certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Experience working with gifted, advanced, or high-achieving students is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting differentiated instruction and collaborating with instructional staff preferred.
Knowledge of gifted education programming, identification processes, and differentiated instructional practices.
Knowledge of educational assessment procedures, data analysis, and evaluation methods for gifted learners.
Understanding of the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional characteristics of gifted and twice-exceptional students.
Skill in coaching and supporting teachers in instructional planning and differentiated practices.
Skill in developing enrichment opportunities, lesson plans, and instructional resources aligned with gifted education standards.
Ability to analyze student data and communicate findings effectively to multiple stakeholders.
Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with students, staff, families, and administrators.
Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with instructional technology, student information systems, and standard office software.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout school buildings for extended periods of time.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Ability to operate standard office equipment and instructional technology.
Regular attendance is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the school's Gifted and Talented Program.
Collaborate with school leadership and instructional staff to ensure equitable access to gifted programming and services.
Serve as a resource and instructional coach for teachers regarding differentiation, enrichment, acceleration, and gifted education best practices.
Support the development of school-wide systems and programming that promote advanced learning opportunities for gifted and high-potential students.
Ensure compliance with state regulations, gifted education requirements, and maintenance of auditable program records.
Design, implement, and support rigorous, differentiated instruction aligned with the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted learners.
Develop and recommend instructional materials, enrichment opportunities, and evidence-based curriculum resources.
Support classroom teachers in planning differentiated lessons, flexible grouping strategies, inquiry-based learning, and higher-level thinking opportunities.
Foster student creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity through engaging instructional practices.
Utilize a variety of instructional methods and technologies to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
Monitor student progress and use assessment data to guide instructional planning and program decisions.
Coordinate and administer assessments used in the identification and placement of gifted and talented students.
Analyze and interpret assessment data to support student identification, programming decisions, and instructional planning.
Communicate assessment results and recommendations clearly with teachers, families, administrators, and support staff.
Oversee scheduling, placement, progress monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of gifted learners.
Provide training, coaching, and professional development related to gifted education, differentiation, enrichment strategies, and talent development.
Stay current on research, instructional practices, and emerging trends in gifted education and advanced learning.
Support staff in implementing instructional strategies that challenge and engage advanced learners within the classroom setting.
Attend and participate in professional learning opportunities, conferences, and school or district meetings.
Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and community stakeholders.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student growth, instructional support, and gifted programming opportunities.
Participate in grade-level, department, intervention, and school-wide meetings to support student programming and achievement.
Serve as an advocate for the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted learners.
Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, confidentiality, and collaboration in all interactions.
Maintain accurate records, assessment documentation, and student program data.
Support school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned by the Principal or Director of Special Services and Programming.
