About The Position

The GI Technical Specialist on the Endoscopy Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general supervision of the RN, assists with endoscopic procedures and provides direct patient care before, during and following GI procedures. Cleans and maintains all endoscopic instruments and equipment. Maintains a clean work area and assists with patient transportation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • GI Technical Specialist II: At least 1 year work experience in a .6fte GI Technical Specialist I position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility; or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; or a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.
