About The Position

Provides individualized and specialized care to patients in the Endoscopy Center in accordance with the Center's policies and procedures. Functions cooperatively with physicians and staff exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in the decision-making process.

Requirements

High school graduate with one or more years of related work experience in GI endoscopy.
Able to read, write and communicate.
Displays a primary interest in giving good patient care and maintaining standards of courtesy and friendliness to co-workers.
Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy on all matters.
Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

Room Preparation
Implements housecleaning tasks necessary for sanitation
Acquires supplies and equipment needed for procedure
Test equipment function and reports any malfunction
After the procedure, cleans room and restocks supplies as appropriate for the next procedure or end of the day
Processing of Instruments and Equipment
Demonstrates ability to clean and organize equipment
Demonstrates ability to package supplies for sterilization
Demonstrates correct use of washing and sterilizing equipment
Selects proper mode of sterilization for instruments and equipment
Demonstrates knowledge of chemical sterilization/disinfection
Chooses appropriate items for disinfection
Chooses appropriate agent(s) for disinfection
Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique
Handles tissue specimens correctly and accurately
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of scope functions and equipment utilized during procedure
Demonstrates appropriate decontamination of equipment after use
Implements housecleaning task necessary for sanitation
Infection Control
Wears appropriate attire according to facility policy
Follows universal precautions
Uses gowns and gloves according to policy
Practices recognized principles of cleanliness and sanitation
Safety Precautions
Provides for patient safety throughout the perioperative experience
