About The Position

The GI Tech is responsible for providing professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the Center, adhering to established procedures. This role involves cooperative work with physicians and team members, ensuring proper care and use of instruments and equipment, and potentially transporting patients. The technologist also assists with maintaining cleanliness in the procedure room area and facilitating room turnover.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Render professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in accordance with established procedures.
  • Function cooperatively with physicians and team members, exhibiting teamwork characteristics.
  • Ensure proper care and use of instruments and equipment.
  • Transport patients to and from the procedure room.
  • Assist with cleanliness of the procedure room area and room turnover.
  • Assist in preparing patients for designated procedures as requested by the physician.
  • Assist the physician during endoscopy procedures.
  • Handle patient specimens per policy and accurately complete laboratory slips and culture/path slips.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite, including assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Assure high-level disinfection and/or sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy, procedure, and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Appropriately clean the endoscopy suite between cases and perform daily terminal cleaning.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Proactively participate in QAPI and Safety Programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to the Code of Conduct, complying with center policies and procedures.
  • Provide a safe environment for the patient, communicate safety concerns, and wear appropriate Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) while observing universal precautions.
  • Legibly document when necessary and refer situations beyond ability or function to the proper person.
  • Promote patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, exhibit a high level of integrity, and maintain flexibility.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required.
