Responsibilities

Be knowledgeable about professional and practice issues related to the field of gastroenterology
In accordance with doctors preferences and established standards, ensures the presence of all instruments, equipment, and supplies necessary for the gastroenterological procedure
Responsible for care and handling of all GI equipment used
Set up a clean field as necessary for the specific gastroenterological procedures
Maintains neat, orderly, and safe work area and practices economy in the use of all supplies
Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for proper disinfection of the endoscopes every time
Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with facility requirements and safety standards set forth by the organization
Cleans gastroenterological area and helps to clean procedure room following gastroenterology procedures
Properly disposes of contaminated supplies and equipment
Performs duties in the instrument processing area such as washing, assembling, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments
Ensures that all equipment is functional
Other relevant duties as assigned by management
