About The Position

In this role, you will manage the Project Management Office (PMO) for our Varennes location, helping shape how complex projects are governed, delivered, and continuously improved across the power and energy landscape. You will steer a diverse portfolio of customer projects and strengthen the execution practices that support reliability, safety, and on‑time delivery within the power grid. You will guide project teams, champion consistent controls and documentation practices, and work closely with partners in Sales, Engineering, Production & Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and HSE. Your work will help advance digitalization, elevate transparency for project risks and performance, and reinforce a culture centered on structured project delivery and continuous improvement. This role offers you the opportunity to grow people capability, evolve portfolio standards, and directly shape the delivery of solutions that support North American grid modernization and long‑term operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a project‑based operational or quality‑focused environment.
  • Experience managing a PMO or project delivery function within industrial, manufacturing, or EPC project settings.
  • Skilled in project controls including planning, scheduling, cost, risk, change, and contract or claim processes.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to develop people capability and strengthen project management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the PMO strategy and governance framework to ensure consistent project controls, high‑quality documentation, and standardized reporting practices.
  • Coordinate alignment with Hitachi Energy’s PMO methodologies, phase‑gate models, and execution standards.
  • Oversee the performance of the Varennes project portfolio, identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities that influence timelines, cost, and customer commitments.
  • Establish a strong operating rhythm for the PMO, including portfolio reviews, risk reviews, and performance monitoring routines.
  • Grow a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement by driving simplification, standardization, digital workflows, and closed‑loop lessons learned.
  • Guide, coach, and develop project managers to strengthen capabilities in project controls, contract execution, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as the primary PMO contact for partners across Customers, Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Controls, Finance, Quality, and HSE, ensuring coordination and information flow.
  • Build PM talent through structured onboarding, mentoring, and skills development across cost, schedule, risk, quality, and change management.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
