About The Position

Universally Speaking is seeking linguistic perfectionists who are passionate about games and possess a keen eye for detail to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the linguistic quality of games, identifying and reporting linguistic bugs, and collaborating with testers, translators, and developers to ensure fixes are implemented. You will become an expert in linguistic quality assurance (LQA) methods, contributing to the testing cycle from start to finish and helping to shape the localization process for a variety of game titles, from indie to AAA.

Requirements

  • Native or near-native German language proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of English.
  • Passion for video games.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to linguistic accuracy.
  • Ability to clearly document and report issues.
  • Experience with professional bug tracking databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with localization and LQA processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with testers, translators, and developers to report and ensure the resolution of linguistic issues.
  • Act as a guardian of language, ensuring all in-game text is natural, accurate, and culturally appropriate.
  • Apply Universally Speaking's LQA methods to test games and identify linguistic bugs.
  • Use professional bug databases to clearly describe linguistic issues, track progress, and verify fixes.
  • Develop expertise in LQA, managing projects and the full testing cycle.
  • Write and refine test cases, document findings, and establish best practices in LQA.
  • Collaborate with developers and testers early in the development process to improve localization testing.
  • Identify and implement improvements to workflows, share knowledge, and raise LQA standards.
