About The Position

THE VENUE SALES REPRESENTATIVE SEEKS OUT, ACQUIRES AND DEVELOPS NEW BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS FOR THE GERAGHTY. THIS POSITION SELLS ALL EVENT CATEGORIES (CORPORATE, SOCIAL, GALA, ETC.) AND WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE CLIENT, EVENT DESIGNERS AND EVENT PRODUCERS TO ENSURE THAT EVENTS ARE PRODUCED AND EXECUTED ACCORDING TO CLIENT EXPECTATIONS. THIS POSITION REPORTS TO AND RECEIVES DIRECTION FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SALES, FUNCTIONS INDEPENDENTLY, AND RELIES ON EXPERIENCE AND JUDGMENT TO PLAN AND ACCOMPLISH ASSIGNED TASKS AND GOALS.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of proven sales and event production experience (particularly in a creative, event decor, floral, catering and restaurant industry).
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of event planning software preferred.
  • Ability to develop, read, calculate, and interpret contracts, commissions and financial reports.
  • Outstanding sales skills including the strength and proven ability to successfully execute sales calls and presentations.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communications and conflict management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Works well under pressure with a proven ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced setting, meet deadlines and goals, and effectively deal with competing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, and outstanding follow-up skills.
  • Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to travel to other markets in a sales capacity as needed.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction.

Responsibilities

  • Seeks out and targets new customers and new sales opportunities to secure new business. Meets or exceeds expectations for prospecting calls, industry networking and cold calling.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves business relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Projects the image that company wants to convey to the marketplace.
  • Maintains regular contact with clients to secure future business by scheduling appointments, sales presentations and proposal opportunities.
  • Works towards achieving or exceeding annualized sales goals.
  • Writes and creates sales presentations.
  • Collaborates with Event Designer in developing event design themes and styles.
  • Works closely in partnership with in-house team to present complete proposal for business opportunity within accordance of company guidelines and gains client approval for design concepts.
  • Secures client commitment with regard to down payment, signed contracts and future payments according to department standards.
  • Collaborates with the Venue staff and Event Designer to ensure the event is produced and executed according to the contract and client expectations.
  • Tracks sales efforts and submits reports to management team on regular basis.
  • Attends in-office sales meetings on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Actively participates in industry networking opportunities.
  • Works closely with Venue Event Reps and acts as key point of contact for clients and/or Event Coordinators during events, installations, and/or strikes.
  • Coordinates and serves as key point of contact for vendors, event deliveries, and load in/out priorities. Acquires all vendor Certificates of Insurance and vendor payments.
  • Attends client events to ensure clients are satisfied and event is executed successfully.
  • Understands inventory components, pricing, how inventory components relate to each other, inventory quantities, and naming conventions.
  • Advises and assists management on identifying and developing best practices, trends and target markets, including beverage/bar packages and trends.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with sales and production team and all departments.
  • Models personal integrity, sound business ethics, the company mission, values, policies and procedures.
  • Complies with department and company safety guidelines, procedures, rules, and training expectations.
  • Establishes safety guidelines and expectations and ensures that staff follows all company and departmental safety guidelines, procedures, and rules.
  • Mentors safe work practices to co-workers and team.
  • Interfaces professionally with all people, internal and external, in a kind and respectful manner.
  • Tracks and enters time and assigns hours and tasks to appropriate events and jobs in time and attendance system. Ensures staff do the same.
  • Completes all Human Resources and Payroll tasks and notifications through the Employee Self Service Online Portal on a weekly basis, as directed and within established timelines.
  • May perform other duties as required.
