About The Position

The Geotechnical Staff Project Manager primarily supports preparation of geotechnical reports, including analysis and recommendations developed in collaboration with senior staff. The role manages construction materials testing (CMT) projects, including daily report review, helping resolve issues, and training field staff assigned to projects. It also manages budgets and prepares invoices for geotechnical and CMT projects.

With supervision, the position may also support field planning and operations, testing, soil classification and laboratory testing assignments, research, and proposal preparation for geotechnical and CMT projects. ECS is an employee-owned consulting company providing geotechnical, construction materials, environmental, and building science and infrastructure services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or a similar field.
• No experience required.
• A professional license is not required for this position but is necessary to progress in the career.
• A valid driver’s license is required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
• US Military rank E-5 qualifies only when the education and license requirements are also met.

Responsibilities

• Support preparation of geotechnical reports, including analysis and recommendations in collaboration with senior staff.
• Manage construction materials testing (CMT) projects, review daily reports, help resolve issues, and train field staff on assigned projects.
• Manage project budgets for geotechnical and CMT projects and prepare invoices.
• With supervision, perform boring and test pit layouts and evaluate site access.
• Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances.
• Research local geologic history.
• Supervise field work performed by drilling and test pit crews and assist with rig access issues.
• Perform in-situ testing and, potentially, specialized geotechnical field testing.
• Classify soil and assign laboratory testing.
• Assist with preparing proposals for geotechnical and CMT projects for training and development.
