About The Position

The Geotechnical Operations Manager role is hands-on, impactful, and fast-paced. You will lead S&ME's strong and growing Geotechnical Team in Nashville, supporting some of Middle Tennessee's most exciting and high-profile projects in the Commercial Real Estate, Institutional, and Transportation markets. You will play a critical role in building client relationships, managing projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating across service lines and offices.

Requirements

You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (or a related construction field; Master's is a plus)
You have a PE license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain within 6 months
You have 6+ years of experience supporting and managing geotechnical engineering projects
You have experience building and maintaining client relationships and a proven ability to win work
You understand the A/E/C industry and what it takes to provide value to clients while delivering successful technical and financial outcomes
You are comfortable dividing time between the office and regular site visits to support and engage field staff
Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage a multidisciplinary team and lead day-to-day operations (project management, business development, safety, quality, finance, HR, risk management).
Collaborate with other team leaders to develop and execute an annual business plan and long-term office/market strategy.
Manage geotechnical exploration projects of all sizes, develop proposals and reports, and execute projects consistent with S&ME standards.
Drive client engagement, cross-sell services, and leverage company tools/resources to win work.
Cultivate relationships through professional organizations to strengthen S&ME's brand awareness and expand networks.
