About The Position

A Day in the life of a Geotechnical Materials Testing Technician at Pinchin: Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technologists/technicians performing general geotechnical responsibilities; Conduct construction inspections and quality control/quality assurance for various projects during construction; Conduct on-site field compaction testing of soil and asphalt materials; Complete sampling and testing of field concrete as per CSA/CCIL requirements; Prepare and collect samples for laboratory testing; Maintain, clean, repair and calibrate all testing equipment. Daily reporting of test results including compaction and concrete field reports; Summarize data and drawings; Maintain and enhance quality control within the group; Liaise between clients and contractors; maintain existing client relationships and build upon new ones; and Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle.
  • Pursuing a degree in either civil, geological, geotechnical engineering.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook is required.
  • Strong ethical principles.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant work experience will be considered an asset.
  • CCIL certification considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of various geotechnical instrumentation, survey methods and materials testing will be considered an asset.
