Geotechnical engineers are responsible for the design, construction, operation, monitoring, reclamation, and closure of mining earth structures. This student position will support the Geotechnical team in the in-house design, analyses, and surveillance of mining structures, including fluid retaining structures (tailings dams), earth fill waste dumps, reclamation stockpiles, roads, and mine pit walls. There is also an opportunity to work with the tailings closure and reclamation team. The role is ideal for individuals curious about the behavior of soil, fluids, tailings, and reclamation material, and their interaction with the environment, especially those who enjoy the outdoors. There may also be opportunities to work with automation and robotics and apply computer coding skills.
