CDM Smith is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory intern to join their team for the Summer of 2027. The intern will be located in the Chelmsford, MA office and will work with a dynamic team on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects. Requirements
- Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors or Masters degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is required.
Nice To Haves
- Completed a soils mechanics class with laboratory, offering a solid background.
Responsibilities
- Perform grain size analysis (sieve and hydrometer)
- Conduct moisture content tests
- Determine organic content
- Perform Atterberg limits (plasticity indices) tests
- Conduct soil compaction (Proctor)/moisture-density testing
- Load consolidation tests
- Demonstrate and explain other advanced tests as samples are assigned, including: Triaxial compression; Permeability; CBR; and Consolidation set-up
