About The Position

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineering Intern in their Chattanooga, TN office. This position allows interns to apply engineering academic knowledge to real-world situations and learn business skills for a successful consulting career. The role is 20-40 hours/week for approximately 13 to 15 weeks, with a preference for candidates who can return for up to two additional semester rotations during their undergraduate or graduate studies. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office. Requirements

  • Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree focus area in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering, or related.
  • Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering calculations
  • Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures
  • Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors, and construction personnel
  • Potential field support for monitoring, geotechnical and environmental investigation, and construction projects
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
