About The Position
SOCOTEC is seeking two Geotechnical Engineering Summer 2027 Interns to work alongside geotechnical staff engineers in San Jose or Alameda, CA (San Jose preferred). The interns will be involved in geotechnical field evaluations and construction observation. Duties include assisting with subsurface evaluations, performing geotechnical calculations, and conducting construction phase observation and reporting. Additional responsibilities may involve assisting in the in-house laboratory and supporting Principal engineers with project-related tasks.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Bachelor's or Master's degree program
- Junior or Senior Year status required, if an undergraduate
- Completion of technical electives or Master's-level courses related to soil mechanics, engineering geology, or foundation engineering
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply technical information
- Able to perform a wide range of physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds of equipment on occasion
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
