Requirements

  • Bachelors in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering required.
  • Professional engineer (PE) license in New Jersey, New York, or Massachusetts required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in engineering consultancy (not including education).
  • Proficient in the use of structural software: STRAND7, SAP, STAAD or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of geotechnical software, such as Plaxis, GeoStudio packages/Slide, Rocscience packages, geotechnical data management (GINT/Holebase).
  • Demonstrable record in design with experience in geotechnical engineering, ground characterization for soil and rock, and a working knowledge of concrete, steel, and foundation design.
  • Strong references from past managers or clients.
  • Interest in underground design and construction for the transport, water, or wastewater sectors.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in a related field is preferred.
  • NCTI Certified is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of BIM tools (Bentley/Autodesk) would also be advantageous.
  • Multidisciplinary working experience would also be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of existing geotechnical projects in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Oversight of staff and execution of field investigation programs to collect data for design, condition assessments, and report preparation.
  • Contribution to detailed analyses for projects involving tunnels and underground structures.
  • Development of field instrumentation programs and evaluation of collected data.
  • Management of staff producing design solutions, reports, and contributions to/reviews of specifications and drawings.
  • Writing reports for client submission, including design-related technical memoranda and reports.
  • Direct client engagement with guidance from senior management, including liaising with clients, responding to queries, and attending design and progress meetings.
  • Contribution to and preparation of proposals for client submission.
  • Ability to lay out/develop a design program and independently manage a team of staff.
  • Managing and mentoring junior/graduate engineers and supporting their development.
