About The Position

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for their Bridgeville, PA office. This role involves managing projects related to earthwork, foundation, and construction materials observation and testing, as well as subsurface investigations. The engineer will be responsible for calculations of bearing capacity, settlement, earth pressures, pavement section design, and slope stability analysis, and will prepare geotechnical engineering reports. The position offers opportunities for professional growth in areas such as retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, pavement design, foundation design, and project management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology or Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with geotechnical explorations and construction observation and testing
  • BS Degree in civil engineering, with geotechnical concentration
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license required
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Geotechnical analysis software such as Slide2, Settle3, RSPile, and BoreDM

Nice To Haves

  • CADD experience preferred
  • Candidates should have or be prepared for professional growth into such areas as retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, pavement design, review of subsurface conditions and foundation design, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing projects involving earthwork, foundation, and construction materials observation and testing
  • Assist in managing subsurface investigations including borings and test pits, reviewing exploration logs, preparation of lab testing programs, and development of Geotechnical plans
  • Calculations of bearing capacity, settlement, earth pressures, pavement section design, and slope stability analysis
  • Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports
