Kleinfelder's Geotechnical team is looking for an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join their North Carolina team in either Raleigh or Charlotte. Requirements

  • 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Desire to work onsite during geotechnical and construction phases of projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
  • An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer with an MS in Geotechnical Engineering strongly desired.
  • EIT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Engineers/Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drill rig and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.
  • Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, retaining structures, trenchless installation, and foundation installation.
  • Assist with lab testing assignment and compilation of lab and field-testing results.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under the supervision of senior staff including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, trenchless drill design, and geologic hazard evaluation.
  • Assist Project Engineers/Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.
