Geotechnical Drilling Technician
About The Position
The successful candidate will assist in the planning, setup and execution of geotechnical field investigations for Transportation and Rail projects. This role involves supervising geotechnical drilling operations including SPT and CPT testing, in-situ geotechnical testing, soils strata logging and soil sample logging. The technician will also conduct asphalt and concrete coring operations, observe and record site conditions, drainage patterns and construction operations, and provide support for laboratory and factual reporting teams. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential to deliver project objectives on time and within budget, while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and health & safety regulations.
Requirements
- Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Degree
- Prior experience in site investigation and drilling operations
- Experience in observing and conducting in-situ geotechnical testing, recording geotechnical conditions and appropriate sample collection
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to operate handheld drilling equipment and work safely in active roadway construction sites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork, including site investigations and construction monitoring
- G Class Drivers Licence

- Understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and soil identification considered an asset
