The Geotechnical Driller position within the Geotechnical Operations Section, provides the Geotechnical Engineering Office with accurate and timely field test data, performed in strict compliance with applicable safety policies. This data is used for informational purposes and the foundation analysis for recommendations for the repair, replacement and construction of highways and bridges. Operate geotechnical drilling equipment, collecting split spoon, Shelby tube and rock core samples; Perform Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT), Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) & LWD Testing, and other field tests as assigned. All activities are to be performed with all of the requirements of safety, patching holes, cleaning the site and in accordance with American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Standards; Performs visual classifications on soil samples, and prepares field boring logs; Performs other duties as assigned. Location: This position is with INDOT’s Central Office in Indianapolis.
