The manager will also perform design tasks as needed, assist the sales team with design input at the bid stage, and investigate complex issues. Logistically, the role includes managing workload, assigning new projects, overseeing project schedules, and ensuring deliverables are met. The manager will collaborate with other Regional Design Managers and the Director of Engineering for project coverage and will set and confirm adherence to project design procedures. Managerial duties include understanding team workload and morale, addressing personnel issues, conducting performance reviews, identifying training opportunities, fostering a team environment, hosting meetings, sharing lessons learned, coordinating onboarding, and holding regular check-ins for technical reviews. The role also involves coordinating and attending site visits, scheduling technical training, and serving as an advocate and liaison for regional designers.
