About The Position

The Geospatial Analyst/Programmer provides advanced geospatial analysis, programming, database management, and technical expertise in support of the Ontario Northern Boreal (ONB) Program and broader WCS Canada initiatives. The position develops, maintains, and enhances geospatial tools, databases, automated workflows, and analytical products for conservation planning, ecological assessment, landscape-level monitoring, and natural resource development analysis. Key work includes maintaining the Ontario Mineral Tracker, supporting ecological atlas and cumulative effects assessment initiatives, conducting geospatial analyses, and producing cartographic and data visualization products. Working with conservation scientists, researchers, and external partners, the role identifies applications of geospatial technologies and develops technical solutions to improve decision-making and conservation outcomes. It also contributes to nationally scoped projects focused on ecological integrity, landscape connectivity, climate resilience, critical minerals, and other major land-use and infrastructure initiatives. The position supports organizational GIS capacity through technical advice, licensing administration, training, and knowledge sharing, and contributes to external engagement and communications. This is a full-time, term leave-cover position, remote in Canada, scheduled from January 4, 2027 to September 3, 2027. The salary is $74,000 to $84,000 annually, depending on experience. The position reports to the Director of the ONB Program and does not supervise staff.
