About The Position

Onsite Engineering is seeking a Geoscientist in Training for their geosciences group in Salmon Arm. This role involves terrain stability assessments, landslide hazard assessments, flood hazard assessments, and may include assisting the geotechnical group with investigations. Potential projects also include post wildfire assessments, terrain mapping, and hydrological assessments. The successful candidate will participate in providing geoscience services from proposal to project commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geological Engineering, or similar field.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Geoscientist in Training with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
  • Comfortable with outdoor work and occasional travel.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects.
  • Willingness to learn and work under limited supervision.
  • Strong technical writing capabilities.
  • Flexibility, organizational, and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in terrain assessments, mapping, road construction, and field work in rugged environments.
  • Prior experience with computer software such as QGIS and ArcMap for map creation.

Responsibilities

  • Field assessments pertaining to terrain stability, landslide hazard, and flood hazard.
  • Completion of reporting associated with various assessments, including coordinating and/or preparing maps, drawings, and figures.
  • Use of computer software such as QGIS and ArcMap for map creation.
