The Arizona Geological Survey at the University of Arizona invites applications for the role of Geophysicist (Researcher/Scientist III). This position is designed for a field-oriented researcher with expertise in collecting and analyzing magnetotelluric (MT) and/or electrical resistivity (ER) data. The role involves performing inversion models that can be integrated with other geophysical datasets such as gravity, aeromagnetic, and seismic data for subsurface energy resource characterization. The Geophysicist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and actively participating in field-based geophysical data collection campaigns, processing raw datasets, and integrating multiple large datasets to develop 2D and 3D subsurface models. The Arizona Geological Survey (AZGS) is dedicated to providing reliable geologic information to enhance public understanding of Arizona's geology, natural hazards, landscapes, and mineral resources. AZGS collaborates with state, tribal, local, and industry partners, offering technical expertise and guidance for informed decision-making and responsible land and resource management to support public safety, sustainable development, and effective stewardship of Arizona's geologic resources. The AZGS offers a supportive work environment with opportunities for learning new techniques, collaborating with fellow scientists, and fostering scientific growth, including the encouragement for researchers to develop their own projects and learn new skills.
