About The Position

Join the Cutting-Edge Team at ITASCA North America! We are seeking a versatile geology intern to join our Minneapolis office for summer 2027. The intern will support consulting projects involving geologic data compilation, interpretation, visualization, and field investigation. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in geology, geological sciences, earth science, geoscience, engineering geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to work on-site to accomplish the objectives of the position.
  • Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs (project needs will vary)
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without present or future sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN)

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience in field geology, structural geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, geologic mapping, core logging, geographic information systems, or three-dimensional geologic modeling.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and data visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, organize, and interpret geologic and geotechnical information from maps, reports, drillhole logs, core photographs, laboratory results, and field observations.
  • Assist with geologic mapping, core logging, data quality review, preparation of geologic cross sections, and development of conceptual or three-dimensional geologic models.
  • Document observations and interpretations under the guidance of experienced geologists, engineers, and consultants.
  • Prepare maps, cross sections, figures, tables, technical summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project deliverables.
  • Gain practical experience with applied geology workflows, field and desktop investigations, data quality review, technical problem-solving, and communicating geologic interpretations to project teams.
