About The Position

The Geology adjunct works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus. The position involves developing and administering Geology education curriculum, creating lesson plans and instructional materials, designing learning activities, conducting student assessments, and maintaining a safe and conducive classroom environment. The role also requires accurate recordkeeping, ensuring student conduct aligns with CEC policies, and collaborating with staff and participating in professional development.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in a field directly related to the area of instruction, or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area of instruction.
  • Prior to start, approval will be required by the community college partner.
  • Must verify legal right to be employed in the United States within 72 hours of employment.

  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meets all scheduled classes and provides instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus.
  • Develops and administers Geology education curriculum consistent with community college objectives.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to enhance learning.
  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
