About The Position

Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution in Roanoke, VA, is seeking part-time Geology Adjunct Faculty for the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). These positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. The role involves teaching college-level geology courses either in-person on the main campus or as a hybrid format (online lectures with in-person labs). Adjunct faculty are expected to stay current in their teaching disciplines and in community college education trends, and to actively participate in Geology department communications.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Geology or a related field.
  • Teaching experience at the community college level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach college-level geology courses in-person on the main Virginia Western campus.
  • Teach hybrid geology classes where lectures are online and labs are in-person on the main Virginia Western campus.
  • Maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education.
  • Be active participants in all Geology department communication.
