About The Position

This role involves evaluating and interpreting subsurface field and sampling data, including soil and groundwater, to understand environmental and geologic site conditions. The Geologist will generate subsurface maps and cross-sections, and collaborate with engineering and environmental scientist staff on various projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing field monitoring and testing of soils, conducting boring investigations, and classifying soil types. The role also requires interpreting soil, bedrock, and groundwater elevation and quality data, and preparing written plans and reports for site investigations, assessments, and remediation activities. Projects may encompass construction focusing on earthwork and structural foundations, well design and sampling, environmental assessments (Phase I/II), and seismic risk assessments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field.
A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
Participate in pre-task planning.
Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Gather data and information to be evaluated by other team members.
Perform sampling and testing of water, soil, and other materials.
Tabulate and prepare data for written reports.
Assist with report preparation by summarizing data and information within reports.
Operate field monitoring equipment.
Assist with the operation and maintenance of remediation and instrumentation systems.
Transport material, samples, or documents to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
Maintain and calibrate field monitoring equipment.
Conduct analyses of component portions of projects.
Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection.
Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan, and permit projects.
Conduct water, soil, and other sampling.
Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing field staff to sample, test, and collect data and/or document site activities.
Outline required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site studies in the field of expertise.
May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
Conduct site testing and make recommendations for systems design on smaller projects of minimal complexity.
May assist more senior Geologists on large, more complex projects.
Direct and supervise field staff to sample, test, and collect data and/or document site activities.
Develop written proposals to clients for approval by senior level professionals.
Evaluate moderately complex laboratory and field data and assemble in written reports.
May serve as a team member or participate in meetings and communications with clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
May oversee work performed by lower-level Geologists/Hydrogeologists.
Conduct site testing and make recommendations for systems design on medium-sized projects with a variety of complexity.
Participate with more senior Geologists on large, more complex projects.
Develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects, including quality control review of proposals written by others.
Evaluate complex laboratory and field data and assemble in written reports.
May serve as a team member or lead in meetings and communications with clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
