About The Position

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Geologist or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) to support mining operations at Fording River. This role involves collaborating with a team of professionals to learn and apply geology practices under the guidance of experienced mentors, focusing on safe production and sustainability. The Geologist-in-Training program is a 4-year development plan with rotations every 18-24 months, designed to build well-rounded skills for a successful career as a professional geologist. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, possesses strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration, can ensure accurate information flow, and is organized to manage competing demands in a dynamic environment. The position is located in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, offering a compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, promoting work-life balance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
Strong digital literacy in database and geological modelling software
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Experience in a mining environment

Nice To Haves

Experience with statistical analysis tools and Python programming is an asset
Previous experience in open pit, truck and shovel operations is preferred

Responsibilities

Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Work within our safety culture, sustainability strategy, and environmental commitments
Analyze, validate, and interpret geological data (including QAQC processes) for use in resource estimation
Generate and update 3D geological resource models to support mine planning functions
Conduct quarterly reconciliations and investigate variances to provide recommendations for improvement
Assist with the planning of annual exploration programs
