We are looking for a Mine Geologist I to support underground mining operations through geological interpretation, data collection, 3D modeling, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams. This role helps ensure efficient operations by maintaining accurate geological information, managing geological data, and supporting drilling programs. You’ll work both underground and, in the office, providing timely, practical geological input to support daily operations and longer-term planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or geological engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong geologic mapping skills, sampling skills, volumetric estimation, and ability to visualize in three dimensions.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), basic skills in AutoCAD and experience in databases.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software, preferably Leapfrog Geo and other Seequent products.
  • Good communication skills with willingness to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Organizational/planning skills will be necessary to organize, schedule and prioritize work activities to manage time effectively and ensure timely completion of projects, programs, and objectives and that the same satisfy operational objectives.
  • ATF possessor’s clearance required.
  • Must complete MSHA 40-hour training or provide 5000-23 documentation of completed training.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in exploration or mine production geology preferred.
  • Prior experience in narrow vein geology and deposits preferred.
  • Underground experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ground support practices in underground mining in both production and development settings; Experience related to additional support requirements in unique geologic conditions is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safe and environmentally compliant work activities at all times.
  • Input, manage, and maintain geological and drilling data for ongoing programs.
  • Assist with geologic project work related to the interpretation and understanding of the complex geology of the deposit.
  • Performs grade control and sampling, geologic mapping, and provide geologic guidance in both production and development areas.
  • Monitor QA/QC data and procedures.
  • Assist with drilling activities including core handling, core logging, sample preparation, and core photos.
  • Demonstrates required behavioral skills including productive communication with employees at all levels, cooperation, productivity, initiative, creativity, and dependability.
  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conduct activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment. Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal (including MSHA and ATF), and company standards. Follow established guidelines for safety, health, environmental, human resources, and sustainable development.
