Join Stantec’s team in Lombard, IL as a geologist in training within our Remediation business line supporting complex environmental consulting projects focusing on site characterization, remediation, and brownfield revitalization for key clients. Projects will include implementing environmental site assessments (soil, sediment, and groundwater); remediation; due diligence; and vapor intrusion investigations in a variety of client service areas throughout the Midwest. The position requires an independent individual with solid problem solving and communication skills. Requirements

  • Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability
  • Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet strict project deadlines.
  • Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for field work and project needs (up to 75%).
  • Ability to pass a background security check and drug screen.
  • Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in environmental consulting is preferred but not required
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in remedial activities at affected facilities, properties, or sites addressing chemical impacts in air, surface water, soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and/or sediment.
  • Conducting due diligence, Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects.
  • Conduct intrusive site investigations, Phase II ESAs, facility investigations, and remedial investigations of vapor, surface water, soil, groundwater, and/or sediment to determine the presence or absence, nature, and extent of constituents of concern.
  • Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Compiling, evaluating, analyzing, and presenting/reporting subsurface investigation data and preparing technical reports.
  • Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
  • Coordinate each project with the project managers as necessary.
  • Preparation of health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents under supervision.
  • Coordination and oversight of subcontractors, including health and safety management.
  • Travel may be required for the purpose of field work or training.
