About The Position

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join their team in Hamilton or Somerset, NJ. This role is ideal for a Geologist or Scientist with 1 to 6 years of environmental experience looking for an opportunity to work with Senior Staff on challenging environmental projects within an established environmental consulting firm. Requirements

  • BS or MS in Geology, Environmental Science or related technical field
  • 1 to 4 years environmental experience
  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Willingness to travel to project sites in the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania area with overnight travel
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy

Responsibilities

  • Logging soil borings
  • Monitoring well installations
  • Collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples
  • Collecting vapor intrusion samples
  • Documenting field activities
  • Oversight of remediation subcontractors during remediation activities including pilot studies and remediation system installation
  • Data gathering
  • Preparing maps and charts
  • Running computer programs
  • Performing field testing
  • Using equipment and instrumentation
  • Interpreting data and test results
  • Writing complete reports (with experience)
  • Preparing field reports
  • Preparing internal correspondence
  • Preparing sections of formal reports
  • Following company safety standards and site safety standards
  • Providing all required permitting
  • Contacting vendors
  • Researching literature and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting scientific calculations
  • Coordinating geometry
  • Performing preliminary analysis and layout
