This role supports capability and solution definition for future space systems through various system readiness events and independent review teams. The position involves systems engineering efforts for space system acquisitions in the GEOINT mission area. The engineer will participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT’s) and Engineering working groups to review and assess the maturity of engineering artifacts, CONOPS, interfaces, and architecture products. Support will be provided to space, ground, and enterprise teams in developing architecture and requirement baselines, establishing and assessing mission capabilities, assessing system and segment schedules and risks, and supporting test and verification strategies. The role also includes assisting in the creation of quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics, ensuring compliance with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Performance will be assessed using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. The engineer will participate in design reviews to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. A key aspect of the role is participating in the adoption of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in both customer and company domains, applying MBSE principles to major system acquisitions. This includes assessing engineering artifacts and developing models of mission systems using an MBSE tool suite that encompasses system architecture modeling, workflow management, analytical, and data visualization tools. The role also involves facilitating and/or participating in collaborative meetings between space system subject matter experts (SMEs) and MBSE and SysML experts to identify and implement modeling solutions.
