About The Position

In a highly collaborative environment, the successful applicant will implement various computational frameworks/analysis strategies for multiple ongoing and emerging genetics and genomics projects in Alzheimer disease, substance use disorders, and age-related macular degeneration involving high-throughput, next generation sequencing (NGS) datasets (e.g. DNA-genome, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomics data). The role involves directing the development and maintenance of genome-wide association and genomic analysis pipelines, implementing various analysis strategies, and carrying out risk prediction analyses utilizing genetic, clinical, demographic, and other risk factor data under the guidance of a faculty supervisor. The applicant will also respond to analysis requests, collaborate on data interpretation, manuscript preparation, grant writing, and presentations. Additionally, the role includes training students, postdocs, and faculty in pipeline use, testing and utilizing new software and tools, and preparing tables and figures for manuscripts.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in implementing computational frameworks and analysis strategies for genetics and genomics projects.
  • Experience with high-throughput, next generation sequencing (NGS) datasets (DNA-genome, transcriptomic, epigenomic, proteomics).
  • Experience in developing and maintaining genome-wide association and genomic analysis pipelines.
  • Experience in carrying out risk prediction analyses using genetic, clinical, demographic, and other risk factor data.
  • Ability to respond to analysis requests and collaborate with faculty, postdocs, and collaborators.
  • Skills in data interpretation, manuscript preparation, grant writing, and presentation development.
  • Ability to train others in pipeline use.
  • Experience testing and utilizing new software and tools, and modifying them as needed.
  • Skills in preparing tables and figures for manuscripts.

Responsibilities

  • Implement various computational frameworks/analysis strategies for multiple ongoing and emerging genetics and genomics projects in Alzheimer disease, substance use disorders, and age-related macular degeneration involving high-throughput, next generation sequencing (NGS) datasets (e.g. DNA-genome, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomics data).
  • Direct the development and maintenance of genome-wide association and genomic analysis pipelines and the implementation of various analysis strategies.
  • Under the guidance of a faculty supervisor, carry out risk prediction analyses utilizing genetic, clinical, demographic, and other risk factor data.
  • Respond to requests for analysis from faculty, postdocs, and collaborators; and collaborate with them in interpretation of data, and in the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and presentations.
  • Train students, postdocs and faculty in pipeline use; and test and utilize new software and tools, modifying them as needed to adapt to specific research needs.
  • Prepare tables and figures for manuscripts that report results from data analyses.
