About The Position

Under general supervision and in addition to the full range of operational duties, incumbents are assigned responsibility to design, administer, and evaluate specialized counseling programs; design and conduct ongoing research programs; or serve as the designated experts, consultants, or sources of specialized knowledge withing the genetic counseling profession.

Requirements

  • Excellent genetic counseling and psychosocial skills to counsel individuals and/or families in a sensitive and confidential manner
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Ability to interact appropriately with referring providers
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Board certification in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical Genetics
  • Licensure or eligibility for genetic counseling license in the state of California
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail in both areas is very important
