About The Position

A Generator Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing generators and associated electrical systems to ensure reliable power supply.

Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of various generator types and components, including diesel, gas, and propane engines
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized troubleshooting systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Physical stamina to work in diverse environments, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50–100 lbs, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on diesel, natural gas, and propane generators, including fluid and filter changes, belt adjustments, and system inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including engines, alternators, control panels, voltage regulators, fuel systems, and transfer switches.
  • Install new generator sets and accessories, ensuring proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct load bank testing to verify generator output and performance under full load conditions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inventory logs, and customer interactions.
  • Provide customer education and consultation on generator operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Respond to emergency service calls promptly, often outside normal business hours.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
