About The Position

TDX Global, a subsidiary of Tanadgusix Corporation (TDX), is seeking a Generator Technician for its Fort Bliss location. This role is responsible for supporting the daily operational responsibilities of Caterpillar 650kW diesel generators producing medium voltage (4160). The technician will serve as a Field Service Representative for the client, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs beyond scheduled maintenance. The position requires technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and control systems for large diesel generator operations, and the ability to guide equipment operators. This role is critical in supporting a US Army THAAD Fire Unit, potentially involving international deployments and 24-hour technical support.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years of experience with diesel engine driven generators.
Able to successfully complete the Army’s Soldier Readiness Program and be declared “DEPLOYABLE” by the Deployment Medical Officer.
Working knowledge of power plant generation systems, UPS systems, high, medium, and low voltage distribution systems, control circuitry, control logic, automatic and manual transfer systems, general operating, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
Extensive working knowledge of principles of diesel generation operations, including electrical controls, electrical connections, electrical safety, engine operation, maintenance, and repair, testing and troubleshooting of generators, switchgear, and other power plant equipment, and use of all common trade tools, instrumentation, and test equipment.
Experience in using computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.
Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Qualified to operate a forklift, loader, and standard truck.
Broad knowledge in maintenance methods, practices, schedules, and logistics.
Valid driver's license issued by state of residence and in good standing.
US Passport for International Travel.
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Skilled with Caterpillar E-Tools.
Familiar with Megger testing meters.
Trained in Medium Voltage applications.
Experience with larger generators and medium voltage.
Comfortable in military environment and culture.

Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day operational responsibilities for a set of Caterpillar 650kW diesel generators producing medium voltage (4160).
Serve as a Field Service Representative for the client, supporting customer missions.
Provide troubleshooting and repairs for power generation equipment outside of regular scheduled maintenance.
Lead and guide equipment operators in the operation, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, setup, and teardown of mobile generators and associated equipment.
Provide support as part of an integrated team for a US Army THAAD Fire Unit, embedded with the military component.
Support soldier operators/maintainers with maintenance and repairs to the Prime Power Unit (PPU) and power distribution equipment, potentially outside the United States.
Provide 24-hour technical support to the Power Systems Manager via a Company-issued mobile phone.
Assist equipment operators with maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of power generation equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair any/all faults, failures, and issues with power generation equipment that cannot be resolved by equipment operators.
Guide operator/maintainers in operations or maintenance tasks that fall outside the instructions/procedures in Army TM 9-1430-610-13.
Complete service/repair tasks not detailed in TM9-1430-610-13, including system emplacement, power up, health and status monitoring, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, and service/fueling.
Maintain the PPU tool kit, ensuring special test equipment is calibrated and all tools are accounted for.
Deploy with the assigned team for local and international assignments as the PPU Field Service Representative, with assignments potentially lasting from a few weeks to 12 months.
Be ready to deploy within 36 hours of notification.
Report to the worksite within 1 hour of being called in the event of an emergency if within the United States.
Solve practical problems with a variety of variables without direct supervision.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions within the limits of competence.
Notify site and TDX management or assigned backups for problems beyond the technician's area of competence after securing equipment and ensuring safety.
Take readings of all instrumentation indicating KWH produced, fuel consumed, voltage, HZ, and current at given intervals on generating sites.
Comply with all required environmental health and safety programs.
Be available as needed to support operations issues, unless specific approval has been given by supervision to be out of range.
Work extended work schedules as required to support project execution plans and schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
