Generator Technician (Southwest Asia) Secret Clearance
About The Position
As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel. This role involves performing maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators, including installation and removal from fixed and mobile locations. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems, program logic controls, electrical wiring, and accessories. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units, both standalone and mounted on trailers and vehicles. The role also requires maintaining all types of commercial power generation equipment, military spec generators, and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS), operating a Load bank during testing, and fabricating wire harnesses and soldering terminals. Some work will be performed in a generator shop environment, and some in a field environment. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Extensive diesel generator experience.
- Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear.
- Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.
- Secret Security Clearance
- US passport must not expire for at least 2 years
- Valid US driver’s license
- An international driver’s permit (AAA)
- Must meet CRC fitness standards for deployment to SWA (southwest Asia) and maintain those standards annually while on contract in SWA.
- 3 + years of related experience
- BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience
Nice To Haves
- Section 608 Technician Certification – EPA is a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
- Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
- Operate a Load bank during testing
- Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army to include the 150kW EPP III generators.
