About The Position

Adams Power, a leader in home backup power sales, installation, and services, as well as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC services, is seeking a Generator Installation Technician. The Generator Installation Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical generators and related equipment, ensuring all systems function efficiently and safely according to industry standards and regulations. The role primarily involves installing Generac residential home backup generators.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year previous experience as a generator technician or auto/heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment commonly used in generator maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • OSHA 10 is required within 6-months of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical training or certification in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and maintain generators and associated electrical systems in various commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in the generator, including wiring, controls, and circuit components.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and battery checks to ensure optimal generator performance.
  • Test and calibrate generator systems to meet safety and performance standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve issues with generator systems.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors on generator-related projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, documenting all service activities and parts used.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs for generator breakdowns or malfunctions, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to generator systems.
