About The Position

The Generator / Fuel Technician provides continuous generator operations, maintenance, fuel management, DEF handling, air permit compliance, spill response, and documentation in support of Field Office Spaces (FOS), latrines, and mission-essential systems. This technician supports 24/7 generator operations and ensures all Performance Work Statement (PWS) -defined power and fuel requirements are met. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Five (5) years’ of experience in the electrical/electronic service and maintenance trade, specifically working with fossil fuel fired engine generator sets.
  • Experience operating and maintaining diesel generators in continuous power environments.
  • Knowledge of ULSD fuel, DEF handling requirements, POL management, and spill response procedures.
  • Familiarity with GEPA air permit compliance requirements and fuel tank permitting.
  • Ability to maintain detailed generator and fuel logs, permit deviation tracking, and required monthly reports.
  • Experience working in expeditionary or temporary facility environments.
  • Training meeting Federal, GEPA, and Host Installation requirements for fuels and environmental safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Possess required security clearance.
  • Experience supportin generator operations and fuel management on DoD, Federal, or military installations.
  • Experience operating and maintaining Tier 4 diesel generators and associated power distribution equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Tier 4 diesel generators providing 24/7 power to FOS and latrine units.
  • Perform startup, shutdown, and operational checks on all generators.
  • Ensure each generator can operate a minimum of two (2) days without refueling.
  • Maintain spill containment systems (integral or external) and remove rainwater routinely.
  • Coordinate scheduled generator maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and removal of used oils and by-products.
  • Maintain noise levels below 65 A-weighted decibels as required.
  • Provide and manage ULSD fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) at all sites except IDAGS (Government-furnished fuel).
  • Escort Government fuel vendors at IDAGS and support fueling operations.
  • Store DEF in hardened long-term storage with proper ventilation and climate control—no tarps allowed.
  • Ensure secure anchoring of fuel/DEF storage during high winds or typhoon conditions.
  • Document all receipt, transfer, and issuance of fuel to maintain accurate inventories.
  • Maintain fuel analysis records documenting sulfur content and delivery dates for ULSD compliance.
  • Collect and report generator operating hours, fuel usage, maintenance actions, and permit deviations.
  • Ensure generators are operated and maintained IAW GEPA air permit requirements.
  • Register fuel tanks >500 gallons with GEPA and ensure permit documentation is up to date.
  • Submit monthly Generator/Fuel Usage Reports in accordance with CDRL A002.
  • Respond to fuel spills immediately and support cleanup IAW regulatory and installation requirements.
  • Maintain spill kits in required locations and replenish contents regularly.
  • Manage contaminated materials, POLs, and fuel waste appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, GEPA, Service Branch, and host installation environmental requirements.
  • Support mission-essential generator and fuel operations at site during crisis conditions.
  • Ensure continuity of power and fuel services under Mission Essential Services Plan requirements.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
