Lubbock Satellite Generator Technician
About The Position
Clifford Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for a position as a Generator Field Service Satellite Technician in the Lubbock area. The position requires an understanding of combustion engines (Diesel, Natural Gas, or Propane), electricity (120/240v single phase or 277/480v three phase A/C power, and 12v to 24v D/C controls), and the use of laptops for interfacing with controls software. Technicians will use a company-supplied Service Truck, starting their day by checking schedules via tablet/laptop. Daily tasks may include routine Planned Maintenance Inspections, Engine Services (oil and filter changes), Quoted Service Repairs, Emergency Trouble Calls, or commissioning/start-up of newly installed generators. Paperwork and electronic submissions are finalized using a Mobile Technician Application. Technicians travel from home to job sites and only travel to the office if parts or supplies are needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches
- Valid Driver's License
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Common hand tools and electrical meter required to perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
- Self-motivated
- Attention to detail
- Quick learner
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
- Excellent customer skills
- Basic computer skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service above and beyond the customer’s expectations
- Troubleshoot and diagnose engine and electrical repairs on power generation equipment (engine-driven generators and automatic transfer switches)
- Perform work on power generation equipment located at customer sites, or occasional work at our local shop
- Use safe practices with operation of service truck
- Perform preventive maintenance on power generation equipment
- Perform start-ups on new power generation equipment
- Perform warranty work on power generation equipment
- Process required paperwork and electronic submissions within deadlines
- Maintain parts inventory of service truck
- 24/7 on-call technician
